On June 10, leaders from UC Systemwide Procurement, Finance, and Card Administration came together at the UC Office of the President in Oakland for the third Annual Business Review with U.S. Bank—a key milestone in a partnership that’s been growing for over a decade. This event also launched UC’s MVP program with U.S. Bank, co-led by Hilary Steinman and Patricio Simpson. This initiative is focused on taking the university’s procurement and payment strategies to the next level.

Throughout the day, the group tackled everything from corporate card spend and virtual card adoption to new payment technologies and supplier relationships. They reviewed trends, shared data, and explored big-picture solutions—like expanding student engagement, auditing parcel shipping, and introducing a unique model of supply chain finance. The goal: to streamline operations, boost financial impact, and build stronger, smarter systems across all UC campuses.

But this partnership goes well beyond finance. U.S. Bank continues to invest in UC’s broader mission—supporting campus-based internships, foundation grants, and high-impact programs like the XPRIZE Challenge. They’ve also played a role in advancing new technologies and standardizing best practices across the UC system.

The momentum from this meeting will shape how UC works with suppliers going forward, driving consistency, clarity, and results. As UC and U.S. Bank deepen their collaboration, they’re proving that the right partnership can do more than move money—it can move the mission.
