Quantitative Best Value Component (Financial)
In Best Value sourcing, the quantitative, or financial, component looks only at the cost of a contract. Quantitative Component of Best Value Scoring must be at least 25% of Total Score
In this example from CalUsource, Quantitative weight is 75% and Quantitative weight is 25% of the Total Score.
To get the Quantitative score
- Lowest bid is automatically assigned a value of 100
- For every other competing bid, the lowest bid is divided by the competing bid and then multiplied by 100
Lowest bid does not guarantee supplier will be Best Value awardee
Quantitative weight can be increased (up to 85% Total Score with 15% for Sustainability) if needed. The examples of alternate weighting shows that when cost is 50% or more of Total Score, it becomes the overriding factor in ranking. Qualitative scores would have to be over 90 (scale of 0-100) to influence Total Score when Quantitative is weighted over 50%.
