About UC Procurement

UC Procurement is transforming how the University purchases goods and services to maximize benefit to the system while improving quality and service to our campus partners.

UC Procurement leverages UC's vast purchasing power to optimize University spend by using a systemwide approach while considering individual campus needs. We use best-in-class sourcing methods, invest in the latest technology, and cultivate strategic supplier partnerships to source the highest quality products and services at the best total value.

For clear examples of our achievements, see the FY ANNUAL REPORT - our once yearly publication that details how UC Procurement projects have saved the University money, increased value, and lowered risk.

See why UC contracts are used by hundreds of higher education institutions, K-12 education systems, local and state governments, and nonprofit agencies nationwide. The expertise, knowledge, and reputation of the University of California is behind every contract and all are in full compliance with the rules and regulations governing public sector procurement.

Who is part of UC Procurement?

Systemwide Procurement (SWP)

Based at the Office of the President, Systemwide Procurement (SWP) is the procurement/supply chain hub for the UC system. We partner with campus procurement to develop and implement systemwide supply chain strategies and policies that leverage UC's purchasing power to optimize spend and deliver positive social and environmental impact.
Procurement Leadership Council (PLC)
Procurement or Supply Chain officers from each UC location, along with legal counsel and SWP functional executive directors, who form an advisory body to set goals and priorities and provide insight and direction for UC Procurement activities.

Campus/Health Procurement

Campus and health center procurement and supply chain organizations that support UC locations with sourcing, purchasing, contracting, logistics and payment services.

Strategic Objectives

  • Drive down Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and promote new revenue opportunities through effective sourcing, contract management, and supply chain solutions.
  • Pursue strategic initiatives to leverage the power of our collective spend and redirect savings to teaching, research, and public service.
  • Develop business relationships and partnerships with suppliers that optimize value for the University.
  • Develop collaborative relationships across the UC system to understand needs and provide high-quality procurement services that best meet those needs.
  • Invest in and optimize talent and technologies across the University system to deliver far greater benefits than can be achieved by single campus locations.
