UC Systemwide Procurement is proud to spotlight Zabble, an innovative certified small business selected through UC's Small Business First Program to help advance the university's ambitious Zero Waste sustainability goals.

Through a newly expanded systemwide agreement, all UC locations and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory now have access to Zabble Zero™, an AI-powered platform designed to help UC locations reduce waste, improve diversion, and make data-driven sustainability decisions.

Zabble exemplifies the type of forward-thinking supplier UC seeks to engage—one that combines innovation, operational efficiency, and measurable impact. By leveraging artificial intelligence, computer vision, and automated analytics, the platform helps campuses monitor contamination levels, optimize waste services, streamline reporting, and identify opportunities for cost savings.

The results are already proving significant. At UC San Francisco, Zabble helped reduce waste contamination incidents by 40 percent while dramatically reducing the time required to analyze hauling data and invoices. UC San Diego has leveraged the platform to identify contamination hotspots and target outreach efforts more effectively.

As UC continues to pursue innovative solutions that support sustainability and operational excellence, agreements with suppliers like Zabble demonstrate the value of engaging small businesses that bring fresh ideas, advanced technology, and meaningful outcomes to the university community.
