With UC Systemwide Travel, Berkeley hosted UC's first Sustainable Travel Fair on November 7, 2023, at the Recreational Sports Center on campus. Faculty, staff and students interacted with travel suppliers, including Hertz, Marriott, Southwest and many others.
Hertz featured an electric vehicle – the Polestar – a popular attraction. Many attendees took advantage of the chance to check out the inside of the car and ask questions about charging, range and more. Berkeley’s own Dining and Residential Services booth showcased their ongoing efforts in sustainability as well.
Based on the success of this first-time event, Berkeley is planning an annual Sustainable Travel Fair, and UC Travel hopes to plan future sustainability fairs at other UC campuses in coming years.
