Systemwide Procurement (SWP) is thrilled to welcome Vincent Nguyen as the newest Senior Category Sourcing Manager – Life Sciences to our procurement team. With a strong educational and laboratory background in Genetics and Molecular and Microbiology, including a bachelor’s degree from UC Irvine, and a master’s degree from CSU Fullerton, Vincent brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our organization.
In over 17 years as a Laboratory Manager and Instructional Support Technician at CSU Fullerton, Vincent excelled in efficient laboratory management and demonstrated exceptional skills in developing and maintaining relationships with faculty, staff, researchers, and vendors. His strategic approach to procurement resulted in significant cost savings and optimized laboratory operations.
As a Graduate Assistant and Research Assistant at CSU Fullerton, Vincent prepared lab courses in microbiology, molecular biology, cellular biology and genetics, oversaw lab protocols and procedures, assisted in the planning and design of experiments, and trained new students in lab protocols.
Vincent's extensive knowledge in life sciences and deep understanding of research needs, protocols and laboratory operations, along with his analytical approach, negotiation skills, and strategic planning abilities make him an excellent fit for the Senior Category Sourcing Manager – Life Sciences role.
Vincent's commitment to excellence and innovation aligns perfectly with UC Systemwide Procurement's mission to make a positive impact across all campuses. His enthusiasm for learning and expanding his skills makes him a valuable addition to our team. Vincent resides in Corona, CA, and will be affiliated with UC Irvine.
Outside of work, Vincent enjoys a variety of hobbies, including golfing, hiking, snowboarding, and beach time with his wife, Rachel, and their fur baby, Iris. As a dedicated family man, Vincent prioritizes his loved ones and values his Vietnamese heritage. He’s also passionate about sushi and will never turn down a maple bar doughnut.
