We are excited to announce that Preston Wight has officially joined the University of California’s (UC) Systemwide Procurement (SWP) team as a Senior Category Manager on our Facilities, Maintenance & Capital (FMC) strategic sourcing team. After contributing as a contracted strategic sourcing consultant since February 2024, Preston now steps into a permanent role where his experience and talent for procurement will shine.
With 28 years in procurement, Preston’s career spans recognized industry names like DIRECTV, AT&T, and the National Football League, where he worked in roles from Buyer to Director of Procurement. His expertise in negotiation, business process improvement, systems implementation, and leading cross-functional teams makes him an invaluable asset to our FMC team.
As Senior Category Manager, Preston and the FMC team will spearhead the development and execution of strategic facilities sourcing initiatives across UC, driving projects that optimize contract management, elevate supplier relationships, and align with our systemwide objectives—all while managing nearly $1B in annual FMC spend.
A graduate of the University of Redlands with a degree in Business Administration and Management, Preston brings both knowledge and leadership to the table. Originally from Scottsdale, Arizona, he has called the Los Angeles area home for the past 28 years. When not strategizing sourcing solutions, Preston enjoys golf, mountain biking, hiking, and exploring new travel destinations. He is married with a daughter currently studying at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff.
