University of California (UC) Systemwide Procurement (SWP) is delighted to welcome Sean Pamer to the strategic sourcing team as a new Senior Category Manager – Information Technology (IT). Sean brings a wealth of experience of over 22 years in procurement, category management, and IT support, making him a standout addition to the team.
Sean’s career includes five years of strategic sourcing category management in IT, Dining, and Life Sciences at UC Merced, complemented by 18 years in public government department management for Merced County. In this role, he oversaw IT procurement, telecommunications, technical and software support, and collaborated with State, Federal and public support agencies. Sean’s ability to foster cross-functional collaboration and build strong stakeholder relationships will be invaluable in this new role.
As an IT Category Manager, Sean will play a key role in shaping and implementing systemwide IT category strategies across UC. Along with other members of the IT Strategic Sourcing team, Sean will drive strategic sourcing projects, optimize contract management, and strengthen supplier relationships to ensure these goals align with the broader objectives of the UC system—all while leveraging an annual IT spend close to $1B.
Sean holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from California Polytechnic State University, Pomona, and various leadership and management effectiveness certificates from UC Davis.
In his free time, Sean enjoys exploring natural treasures like Yosemite, Yellowstone, Glacier and Grand Tetons National Parks, sharing scenic drives with his wife and Disneyland adventures with his family. He also likes the creative challenge of 3-D printing and modeling (toys and fidgets), and cheering on his favorite team, the Dodgers!
