UCPP Transitions to Systemwide Procurement

The University of California Partnership Program (UCPP) was created as a pilot four years ago to support multi-campus partnerships. After a successful 4-year pilot and generating $4.1M in revenue and $6.1M in pipeline revenue, the program will be transitioned to permanent status and folded into UC Systemwide Procurement (SWP) strategic sourcing operations.

UC Berkeley was essential in providing leadership for this pilot, especially in areas of brand alignment, revenue growth, campus impact and priority services. Systemwide Procurement will carry the torch forward by integrating UCPP into our strategic sourcing processes and supplier relationship management activities. This program also supports:

  • Student scholarships
  • Student internships
  • Debt-free pathways to education
  • Incentives to fund advancements in strategic sourcing and small business utilization
  • Resources for staff professional development
  • Strategic multi-campus partnerships (i.e. Farmers Insurance partnership and University Credit Union)

To facilitate this transition, Systemwide Procurement recently repurposed another role to create a Director of Strategic Sourcing Revenue Programs, focused on revenue creation. This role will assume the UCPP responsibilities together with the U.S.Bank program and Lead Agency Marketing Partnership (LAMP) program. The LAMP program allows outside public agencies use of UC’s portfolio of competitively bid contracts, a public service that saves money, resources, time, and extends UC’s mission of education and access.

Revenue generation and partnerships are a proven tool to expand strategic relationships beyond simple low cost and bring contextual value to enrich student and staff experiences. With the knowledge of the existing UCPP team, UC campuses, and the newly hired Sourcing & Process Solutions Manager (Bob Stueber) and Director of Revenue Programs (Sean Parker), UC strategic partnerships will continue to evolve while providing exceptional value. For more information, contact Jeremy Meadows, Executive Director, Strategic Sourcing & Transformation, Systemwide Procurement.
